Saturday Night; Election Day in Vancouver

From the photos below, you may be able to feel the sense of joy I felt when the rain stopped and the sun appeared in through broken sky. I walked down to the beach to see MASSIVE waves—raw Atlantic monster rolling breakers smashing up on the shoreline near the medina and onto the beach near to me. And it filled the air in mist like a light fog. But warm and no rain so I decided to walk into the medina to eat—and earlier than restaurants here would have it, but I had not eaten all day except for a few nuts I had whilst hoping the rain would stop. I was very hungry.

I had an decent dinner inn a place where at least a couple of other people were eating. I cannot eat solo in an empty restaurant. Then I headed home for a pleasant walk home. But instead, a downpour and not a taxi in view—every one was full. So I ran, but I was soaked through on arrival. I I mean soaked and I mean through. There was water in my backpack and my jeans made a puddle when I picked them up of the floor after taking them off. I keep thinking: bad events = good stories.

Note: there are no dogs here—well there are a few that all seem to be pets. But the are feral cats everywhere; not like the feral cats that lived in Nice in my neighborhood that seemed to loath all people. These cats, at least some of them, will come and be very, very friendly—including kittens. They are like rats. I have she'd tears.

It's 10:30 and my jet lag is on in full force. I am not tired at all, whereas at home I'd be toast by now. Another storm just hit and blew my door open; my pants, hanging in the window to dry (won't happen; 1000% humidity) almost went out the window.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring in the way of weather. My bus to Agadir leaves at 2:00 pm. I am praying for a dry day so that I can take a l sat walk along the Atlantic. It is too bad about the weather because this is a truly lovely town. There's almost nothing to do, but it is beautiful and very, very relaxing. And the idea was to chill here and acclimatize; mission accomplished (except for the sleeping bit). Even the rain doesn't really bother me. I am on vacation and this is bucket list adventure.

  1. CT, you're not alone, we're all with you, all your loving friends and blog-readers. Though not sitting at your table in the restaurants, unfortunately. Don't be shy and withdrawn - think of us, you have to talk to people so you can tell all about the people you meet. How wonderful for us to journey by proxy - following you every step of the way.

  2. What a treat to hear your voice, Bethy. I just arrived in Agadir and it is late. It is all so exciting Fnally. I was numb before leaving but now I am finding my groove!
