Wednesday, last day, at Ukutula.

Today started with another lion walk, this time taking Kali, who loves to swim, and Puncture, who loves people. That was at 8:00 am and now I have all day to myself in my delightful little cabin with a fridge full of delightful diet coke and I will swim in the pool and work on my script because tomorrow I may die.

Today, as I write, it is 36° in Windhoek, Namibia. I leave for Windhoek tomorrow morning at 6:00 am. Once I get there, I have to take a long car ride during high-noon sunshine to Namib-Naukluft Lodge. What was I thinking? Suddenly air conditioning may rate higher than diet coke. I am there for two nights, then I return to Windhoek for the night of the 23rd.

On the 24th and 25th, I am in a tented camp in Etosha National Park, and on the 26th, and 27th, I am back in Windhoek at Galton House.

On the  28th, I fly from Windhoek to Maun, Botswana and from there I drive to Meno a Kwena Tented Camp where I stay until the 31st. On the 31st, I get up, take all the pills I have available to take (kidding), and I fly from Maun, to Johannesburg, then to Frankfurt, then to Vancouver and from their I take a taxi to the morgue. London, now, where this adventure began, seems like lifetimes ago.

I am not sure how Internet access will go, so bear with the gaps pleases, dear readers.

This is not a close up shot. During the lion walks, I am often 500 meters from Kali or Puncture. The guides put meat in the trees so that we see how big they get. Kali, here is 18 months old and smallish. She will grow to 240-260 kilos.
Kali, above and below, loves to swim.

Guinea hen are pervasive, and they can be taken for granted, but they are, to me, stunningly beautiful and simple birds. When raised in the captivity, they turn white. In the wild they are a beautiful grey/brown with spots.

After the walk, Bwana and Cleopatra breakfast together.
