- A two-hour drive from Meno a Kwena with an aching heart leaving XR, the bush baby, behind.
- A two-hour wait in Maun for the flight to J'Burg. We left early to accommodate others.
- A first insight into my increasing loathing of people taking flights. I get such a hate-on for the "I have to be first" people. It's embarrassing.
- A five-hour layover in Johannesburg.
- For the first time ever, I slept on a flight—the one from J'Burg to Frankfurt. Thanks to the flight collar (my first time) and a whole Atavan.
- Another tedious five-hour layover in Frankfurt. (See #3 above.)
- Full, long flight with zillions of babies to Vancouver where friends John, Bunny and Leslie meet me and drive me home and stock my fridge. Friends and animals! Can't beat 'em.
- Last time I came home committed to returning. This time, I have no plans. My next project, a play, excites me and until that is done, I am not going to think about travel.
- I love being back to high-speed Internet.
- See you next time.....

Hi Chris,
ReplyDeletewe are home in Cape Town after a LONG drive home. We did 2500km in 2 days but its good to be home. We compared it to your 36 hours and decided it wasn't so bad as we could at least stop and stretch when we needed to!!! It was so so wonderful meeting you. You touched us in a very special way and we have such fond memories of our chats around the pool. We have some photos to send you and Bella made a power point presentation of our time there. Will email them to you soon. Lots of love The Dooleys
DOOLEYS!!!!
DeletePlease send me your email address to me at cloranger@shaw.ca, okay?! I wrote to Mervyn to ask how to contact you. I had such a great time with you! Isn't life a wonderful thing sometimes. I tell everyone I met a "perfect" family; you have the most spectacular children and that comes from spectacular parenting. And oh those mince tarts!!
